Johanna Alarcón is a freelance photographer based in Ecuador whose work focuseson social, cultural, human rights, and gender issues. She was selected for WorldPress Photo’s Joop Swart Masterclass World Press Photo (2020) and the 6x6Global Talent South America (2019). She is a member of Fluxus Foto and AyünFotógrafas. Her work has been published in The New York Times, Bloomberg, andCourrier Magazine, among others. She has been selected for the New York Timesportfolio review (2019) and has participated in the Eddie Adams Workshop (2019).Her work has been part of the Photoville Festival and the 2nd Latin AmericanPhotography Festival (2019). Johanna’s recognitions include the EverydayProjects Mentorship, Africamericanos Award (Ecuador), Juan Antonio Serranophotojournalism award, and Honorable Mention in the photobook competition RM.
